I did it.

I have never been able to keep ANYTHING alive.
Well, aside from Brooklyn that is....

See her? She is alive and well thankyouverymuch.

But, plants....nope It doesn't take long for mine to wilt and die.
Until now! SEE?

This little guy started out like this and.........

Now my very first tomato plant (yes grown in a flower pot) is growing wonderfully! Leaning to the right a little I know but hey, nobody told me I was supposed to tie them up until to late!

Even has little yellow blooms like the ones on Farmtown.

Yes....all credit goes to Farmtown on Facebook!

Peace.

I have nothing to say....yet here I am.

I read lots of blogs. I wish mine held a candle to some of the folks' I read.

I wish I had something terribly brilliant and creative to write about.
I wish I could photograph food and post a long detailed recipe for everyone to try.
I wish I could cook food... to photograph.
I wish I could take incredible photographs of my child and post away.

But...I can't. Never have been to terribly creative at all.

So, I will continue to post about our everyday life in a boring, bland and quite possible misspelled fashion.

Here are some recent pics.

Comming Together

Remember those doorknobs that worried the daylights out of me??

How about the interior door selection that gave me an ulcer?

Well, I took a deep breath and made some decisions
Ate a Tums
Said a prayer and viola'
We have doors with doorknobs and I think they look great!
Here is a peek at the dining room color.
Todd is proud of his first time doing shadowboxes.
I am too.
The big boxes are some of our cabinets.
These were the easiest for me to choose.
I knew exactly what I wanted...however...
Choosing granite and back splash to match are new challenges and may very well land me on a professionals couch in the near future.
Where is my brown bag???

Like Mother Like Daughter...and Steel Cut Oats

I hated oatmeal as a little girl.
I still don't like it much.
Brooklyn hates it also.
UNTIL....
We tried making steel cut oats in the crock pot.

Now she/we try to have it 2 or 3 times a week.
In my never ending attempt to lower my blood pressure (I have had elevated BP since high school) and loose a few too, I have been reading up on 'eating the good stuff'
Now, I cannot yet bring myself to cut out salt so, I will try everything else instead!
1 cup steel cut oats
lots of water
crock pot overnight
mush in the morning
add brown sugar and maple syrup (the real stuff)
and its yummy.
I promise.
Peace

The House on Page 250

House plans are confusing.
Too many pages and blue lines that mean nothing to me.
I need color. Substance. Meaning. Real houses. Not blue squares and dotted lines.

When Todd and I decided to seriously start looking for a house to build, it seemed endless.
Thousands of pages in these dang books .

We looked and looked and FINALLY found one that we liked.
Not wanting to jump on the first one we liked, we continued on through for several more months and fifty more plan books at least.
We found ourselves comparing every single house to the house on page 250.

So, the long and the short of it is that...........we bought the plan for the house on page 250 and the dang thing has consumed our very existence for the last 7 months.

I have a whole lot to share about this house but for now, I will sum it up with some pics of the general progress made so far.
I love that we have made every single cotton pickin decision on our very own.
This house is ours and ours alone.
If you love it, blame us.
If you hate it and think we have horrible taste....blame Todd (kidding)
Blame us. Its all us baby.
Our house.
The House that Jack Todd Built.

Every door knob worried over.
Every light fixture studied and matched.
Sweat and tears poured into every decision.
Headaches, worry rash, diarrhea, stress stress stress.
Floors that match the counter tops that match the cabinets that match the paint that matches the floor that matches the chandelier la la la lalala

Here goes....

The house on page 250 = our house.

More to come about the inside. Gotta walk Molly.
